Did you read yesterday’s post that had two articles by Deepak Chopra about consciousness and mind-body health?
In the article about mind-body health Dr. Chopra stated, “It is the mind that dominates the body, that acts as chooser, controller and governor. Instead of being incidental, your state of awareness plays a huge part in how your cells function.”
From another source, Dr. Dawson Church, PhD in The Genie in Your Genes, tells us that our emotions and behavior shape stimulate the formation of neural pathways in our brains that reinforce existing patterns or begin new ones. When we think the same thoughts, the neural pathways become busier, stronger and more pronounced. Eventually our repeated thoughts become beliefs that also become imprinted in our cells and bodily systems. The result is that our thoughts impact our health and overall well-being.
These are just two of the many sources today that are speaking and writing about the scientific breakthroughs in mind-body health that can guide us in taking greater charge of our health and well being and to create happier, healthier lives. The good news is that we are not the total victims of genes, or of bacteria and viruses floating in the environment. Perhaps the bad news (not really!) is that we must DO something to make this information come alive and be effective! Simple information is not enough. We must have techniques and practices that integrate processes the information is telling us about.
When Deepak Chopra asks the question, ” What can you and I do to promote wellness based first and foremost on consciousness?”, he actually presents five questions that are meant to spark development of an overall health plan (one your insurance company does not control!) and help take advantage of the power and magic inherent in us.
Those questions are:
1. What am I doing to free myself from my past?
2. Am I honestly confronting my bad habits and addictive tendencies?
3. Do I make choices from a secure center, knowing who I really am?
4. Do I have confidence that I am evolving and will continue to evolve?
5. Looking around, how does my world, including everyone I relate to, reflect what’s going on inside?
How would you answer those five questions? There are so many ways to learn and integrate the new information coming out of the field of Mind-Body Medicine and Energy Psychology. We are fortunate to be living in this time in spite of the challenges.
All of the programs that we develop here at Living Energy Works are aimed at providing you with tools that address the five questions above. You can learn more about our programs here: http://bit.ly/xL0i9a
