Today I came across some favorite quotes I had saved some time back and was so aware of how a deeper understanding of ourselves€¦our attention, focus and energy relate to them given what we have been talking about re: beliefs and perspective.
This one made me think about how our eyes see what we expect to see instead of quieting ourselves, clearing our minds and centering in that place of focus and attention and then directing it to our experience of the day.
It is a gift to be able to paint a particular picture or to carve a statue, and so to make a few objects beautiful; but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look. To affect the quality of the day – that is the highest of the arts.”
Henry David Thoreau
How will you clear your mind to shift perspective today?

“The key is always found within the cage. It takes prolonged self-observation to see how attached we are to our own suffering.” Unknown
This quote speaks to our need for self -observation in order to let go of non-beneficial beliefs. In addition it points to the often difficult discovery of HOW we cling to that which does not serve us.
What are the “secondary gains” for your non-beneficial beliefs?
